In a loss to Taft High last week, Sylmar netted 77 yards, its lowest offensive output in Jeff Engilman’s 10 years as coach. Then again, Engilman wasn’t coaching last week. He was serving the first game of a two-week suspension for what the City Section said was improper contact with another school’s player.
With 13 receptions against Paraclete last Saturday, St. Bonaventure senior Pepe Villasenor tied his school record for receptions in a game, which he set last season against Bishop Diego. Villasenor had 133 yards receiving, scored a touchdown and a scored a two-point conversion. The Ventura County record for receptions in a game is 15.
