All Ages Welcome at Free Tennis Clinic

The San Fernando Recreation and Community Services Department will offer a free tennis day Saturday at Las Palmas Park.
The Neighborhood Junior Tennis Program (NJTP), a nonprofit organization run by San Fernando residents, will conduct a free clinic with instruction for children and adults from 10 a.m. to noon.
“We’re trying to get more people interested in tennis,” said recreation department director Edward Montan. “We have the facilities available, but not enough people are taking advantage of them.”
Montan said interest in tennis in San Fernando has picked up since NJTP formed earlier this year and began offering lessons in the park. Children enrolled in the organization’s programs are charged $25 per month, but “we have scholarships and that fee can be waived if the family can’t afford it,” Montan said.
On Saturday, the NJTP will recruit new members for its existing children’s programs and for a new adult program.
Las Palmas Park is at 505 S. Huntington St. For more information, call (818) 898-1290.
