Argyros to Lead State Republican Campaign Panel

Orange County businessman George Argyros was named Monday to head a statewide Republican campaign committee.
Argyros, 59, will chair Victory ‘96, which determines spending strategies for Republican campaigns throughout California. Argyros also serves as finance chairman of the California Republican Party.
Considered one of the most powerful people in Orange County politics, Argyros has contributed millions of dollars to political campaigns, universities and charitable causes.
The resident of Newport Beach’s Harbor Island was a friend of Richard Nixon and is the longtime board chairman of Chapman University in Orange, his alma mater.
