Grant Will Fund Downtown Repairs

Downtown Santa Paula streets and sidewalks will get some much-needed repair, thanks to a $1-million grant from the U.S. Commerce Department.
The grant was announced Monday by Commerce Secretary Mickey Kantor.
“This project is vital to expanding the economic base of Santa Paula, which will in turn create economic growth opportunities,” Kantor said.
Tourism is key to diversifying the city’s economy, and officials say the grant will help the city move toward the renovation of one of the city’s main tourist attractions, the downtown railroad depot area.
