Noise Ordinance Proposal Studied

Residents of Ventura County’s unincorporated area could enjoy a little more peace and quiet under a proposal being studied by the Board of Supervisors.

The board Tuesday directed the Resource Management Agency to study the possible implementation and enforcement of a noise ordinance and report its findings within 60 days. Sheriff Larry Carpenter has agreed to assist with the study.

The ordinance proposal came from Supervisor Frank Schillo, who recently received complaints from some homeowners concerning neighbors’ loud radios and raucous parties. Although details of the proposal remain sketchy, Schillo said the ordinance would most likely levy fines against those responsible for residential disturbances that occur after 10 p.m.
