Firefighter Hurt Battling Carpet Warehouse Blaze
A rubbish fire damaged a one-story carpet warehouse Monday south of downtown Los Angeles, officials said.
A firefighter was injured battling the blaze reported at 2:49 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Santee Street, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. The firefighter, whose hand was cut, was treated and released.
The incident occurred at the building of a carpet wholesaler, D.K. Enterprises. Fire-related damages were estimated at $260,000, Humphrey said. The cause of the fire was under investigation, Humphrey said. The blaze took 23 minutes to extinguish.
