Waves Rally Past San Jose State, 2-1, in Soccer Opener

Eva Popper and Dawn Hollowell scored second-half goals to lift the Pepperdine women’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over San Jose State in a nonconference game at San Jose.
A goal by Michelle Vargas gave San Jose (0-1) a 1-0 halftime lead but Popper scored in the 59th minute and Hollowell in the 69th minute to boost the Waves (1-0).
MEN’S SOCCER
The Master’s College 3, CS Dominguez Hills 2--Junior forward Bryan Lee scored in the final minute to cap a comeback for the Mustangs (1-1) in a nonconference game at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
San Diego State d. Cal State Northridge, 15-10, 15-8, 7-15, 15-12--Getty Dimitrova had 21 kills and Carrie Kapfenberg added 14 for the Matadors (0-2) at the University of San Diego Invitational.
Ginger Ernest had 20 kills for the Aztecs (2-0), leading four players in double figures.
