COSTA MESA — A 35-year-old Fountain Valley woman was killed Friday night crossing the intersection of Harbor and MacArthur boulevards, police said.
Jennifer Browne was crossing against the light about 10:50 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle driven by Larry Harry, 57, also of Fountain Valley. Harry was not injured, Police Lt. Ron Smith said.
Browne was pronounced dead on arrival at UC Irvine Medical Center at 11:41 p.m., Smith said. Her mother told officers that Browne was probably on her way to the Del Taco on Harbor Boulevard to call for a ride home. Browne regularly cared for an elderly woman nearby on Friday nights, her mother told police.
Smith said the accident is under investigation, but that Harry did not appear to be at fault.
