The Santa Paula Federation of Teachers recognized two teachers for their outstanding contributions to the Santa Paula Elementary School District.
Jerry Burns and Bob Berg received written awards and proclamations from President Clinton, Gov. Pete Wilson and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, among others.
Burns, a speech and language specialist, has been with the district for 21 years. He is responsible for the testing and evaluation of students and is credited with developing specialized programs to improve students’ articulation and communication skills.
Berg, starting his 31st year as a teacher, is one of only three charter members still working for the district. He has served as teacher’s union president for the past 20 years.
