Philadelphia, “the city of brotherly love,†has created the Mature Traveler Discounts brochure that lists dozens of discounts for those over 50. Included in the handy booklet are a list of discounts available at 20 restaurants, 10 theaters and concert halls, 25 resorts and hotels, several car rental firms and 29 attractions such as museums, libraries, art galleries and botanical gardens. Travelers using the booklet may be requested to furnish proof of age when contacting participating businesses. An opportunity for a barge trip through the canals of France will be available from Oct. 9 to 29 when Lanakai cruises will extend a 15% discount to travelers 50 and older. Price includes modified half-board with a welcome-aboard dinner plus breakfasts and lunches daily for the remainder of the week. Rates range from $1,750 to $2,350 per person per week before the discount. The price also includes all beverages consumed on board. The Lanakai is just under 100 feet long, accommodates six passengers in three cabins with private baths and windows plus a dining salon. It also carries six mountain bikes for passengers.
