Attempts to Kill Arafat Confirmed

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat has faced several assassination attempts in recent weeks, a Palestinian architect of peace deals with Israel said in a newspaper interview. Asked to confirm leaks about the assassination attempts, Mahmoud Abbas, also known as Abu Maazen, told the daily Yediot Aharonot: “That’s correct. There were several attempts.â€
