Bomb Plotters Get Prison
MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Three people convicted in a plot to bomb civil rights centers and abortion clinics have been sentenced to prison terms.
U.S. District Judge Frank Seay sentenced Willie Ray Lampley on Wednesday to 11 1/2 years. His wife, Cecilia, received 4 1/2 and J. D. Baird was sentenced to 10 years.
The three were convicted April 24 of gathering ingredients to manufacture a bomb at the Lampleys’ Vernon, Okla., home. No bombs ever went off. Conversations secretly recorded by a government informant played a key role in the case, prosecutors said.
