2 Boys Rescued From Pools; 1 Still in Danger
A 3-year-old boy was fighting for life and a 4-year-old boy was recovering at home after they fell into swimming pools in separate incidents in the county, fire officials said Monday.
The first incident happened about 1:30 p.m. Sunday when a teenager found his 3-year-old brother at the bottom of the family’s swimming pool in the 10400 block of Brightwood Drive, in an unincorporated area near Tustin.
The 14-year-old discovered his brother about five minutes after family members noticed he was missing, said Capt. Scott Brown of the Orange County Fire Authority.
After the child was pulled from the water, his mother administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation while the father called 911. The child, whose name was not released, was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was listed in critical condition, firefighters said.
The second near-drowning happened about 11:40 a.m. Monday when the 4-year-old fell into an apartment pool in Orange. He was rescued by family members who administered CPR before paramedics arrived. The child was treated at a hospital and released.
“He’s fine,†Orange Battalion Chief Frank Frasz said. “He wasn’t under water for any critical length of time.â€
