10 Families Sought for Housing Loans
Up to 10 Oxnard families will be selected to receive low-interest loans as part of a city program that facilitates home ownership for low-income families.
The Oxnard City Council last week unanimously approved entering into an agreement with the nonprofit Commission on Human Concerns to find 10 families to receive a total of $225,000 in federal grant money, according to Ernie Whitaker, the city’s Housing Rehabilitation Program manager.
The funds, which come from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, will be used to aid families with down payments, rehabilitation expenses or mortgage payments.
Families must have at least six months of residency in Oxnard and qualify aslow income. Applications will be available within a month, according to commission President Lee Riggin.
