ITT Gilfillan, a Van Nuys-based unit of ITT Defense & Electronics, said it has signed a $30-million contract with the Republic of Turkey to build radar approach control systems for that country.
The unit was already under contract to build $40-million worth of these systems. The additional order puts the total value of these Turkish radar contracts to $70 million. Delivery will be spread over the next four years, the company said.
The systems, call MPN-14K, are used in military air traffic control.
ITT Defense & Electronics is based in McLean, Va., and specializes in defense and commercial electronic systems. It is one of three businesses of ITT Industries Inc. of White Plains, N.Y., a company spun off from ITT Corp. last year.
