Woman Dies After Fall From Car
ANAHEIM — A 61-year-old Anaheim woman was killed Saturday morning when she fell from a car her husband was backing out of a driveway, police said.
Phung Truong suffered major head injuries in the 9:19 a.m. accident and was taken to UCI Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, Anaheim Police Sgt. Thomas Lahmon said.
Truong’s husband, Hung Thai, 65, was backing a 1988 Toyota Camry out of a driveway in the 100 block of Cliffwood Avenue when the engine raced for an unknown reason and the vehicle accelerated in reverse, Lahmon said.
Truong, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was thrown from the car and landed in the roadway, Lahmon said.
The accident remains under investigation, Lahmon said. It was not immediately known if the car door was completely closed when Truong was ejected from the vehicle, nor whether she was struck by the car.
