Old Textbooks to Be Given Away to Public
Thousands of old textbooks no longer used in the classroom will be given away to anyone who wants them Saturday at the Simi Valley Unified School District parking lot.
The books, most of which were published in the early 1980s, have been replaced by more modern textbooks or are slightly damaged.
“We would much rather do this than put them in a landfill,” said Beth McMurry, the district’s director of purchasing services. “We just encourage people to take them. Kids can use them for the pictures or take articles for their reports.”
The texts include lessons on science, math, social studies, history and other subjects.
The giveaway will be held from 8 a.m. until noon. For information, call 520-6680.
