Occupational Center Courses Begin July 1
Registration for more than 50 short-term vocational classes will begin Tuesday at the North Valley Occupational Center-Pacoima Skills Center.
Offerings in aviation, child care, computers, GED preparation and vocational English as a second language are among the summer-session classes that will begin July 1 at the center, located in Mission Hills.
Enrollees have a choice of weekday, evening or Saturday classes, said Don Kihara, an advisor in the counseling office who also teaches graphic design. The classes have a $10 registration fee plus a fee for class materials.
Kihara suggests classes in keyboarding or introduction to computers for people who want to learn basic skills for the current job market.
The six-week summer session operates under the center’s open entry-open exit policy, which allows people to enroll any time during the class as long as space is available.
