Clement Cole, 86, aerospace engineer who founded and operated General Magnetics in Pasadena. A native of Chihuahua City, Mexico, where his father owned the Colonial Hotel Presidente, Cole was educated at Notre Dame University, USC and Osburn College of Engineering. He was a pioneer in digital electronics and developer of a Hughes Aircraft guidance core used in the Apollo missions to the moon. In addition to his engineering career, Cole was active in politics, serving as campaign manager for Los Angeles City Controller Charles Navarro and his own wife, former Los Angeles Board of Education President Ruth Cole. He was a longtime deacon of the First Congregational Church and chaired the church board. On Thursday in Los Angeles.
