An argument among four carloads of young males early Saturday morning resulted in a 26-year-old Garden Grove man being shot to death, police said.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the shooting a short time later. A third suspect remains at large, said Lt. Mike Schliskey.

The victim, Huan Minh Ly, was found by police officers lying in the middle of the street. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead at 2:50 a.m.

The shooting occurred about 2:25 a.m. in the 14000 block of Locust Street, just south of Westminster Boulevard. The occupants of the four cars were engaged in an argument as they drove down the 7100 block of Westminster Boulevard.

“They all exited their vehicles on Locust Street, and the argument continued on the streets,†Schliskey said. “One of the suspects went back to his car, retrieved a handgun and fired once, striking Mr. Ly in the chest.â€

The gunman fired two or three more rounds at a couple of other people, but no one was hit. He then ran from the area.

Witnesses told police that two carloads of people drove off in a white Miata and a blue Honda. The incident involved eight to 10 males, police said.

Shortly after the shooting, police spotted the Miata near the intersection of Magnolia Street and Hazard Avenue. Witnesses were driven to the scene and identified Tuan Quoc Doan, 21, of Garden Grove and Kevin Huy Le, 18, of Lake Forest as suspects.

Both were arrested and are being held at Huntington Beach City Jail on suspicion of murder and two counts of attempted murder, police said.

Police have not been able to determine if either of the suspects is the gunman since they have been uncooperative, Schliskey said.

The small-caliber gun used in the shooting has not been recovered. The blue Honda is still being sought by police.
