The Times today is publishing selected “quality indicators†on Orange County high schools released by the California Department of Education. Compiled on every public high school in the state, the information is intended to help parents, educators and policymakers spot trends and devise ways to improve achievement in their local schools.

The figures are based on data for the 1994-95 school year.

Advanced Placement Examinations

Orange County high school students can take advanced placement examinations in as many as 16 subjects, and a passing score on these exams is generally considered by colleges as acceptable for granting college credit. The number in the table is the percentage of tests meeting the passing criteria--a score of 3--used by most universities.
