. . . Mission Viejo officials were hoping for a return visit from former President Gerald Ford to celebrate the city’s 20th anniversary. Ford had taken part in the city’s 10th anniversary but canceled plans to return because of scheduling conflicts.
The city’s population had reached 60,000 in the 20 years since residents moved into the first 90 homes.
