The U.S. Postal Service is getting healthy.
The Bulk Mail Center in Bell will play host Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to the fourth annual Health Fair providing free medical exams.
Residents of Bell, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Huntington Park, Maywood, South Gate, Vernon, Cudahy and Montebello are invited to participate, along with 10,000 postal workers.
About half of the area’s postal workers are women and Friday’s free mammograms will increase awareness about breast cancer. The Postal Service will also issue a stamp June 15.
Blood work by the American Red Cross will test stress and cholesterol levels and the Minority AIDS Project will provide confidential HIV testing. Also available will be bone-marrow testing to broaden the bank of possible donors.
The Bulk Mail Center is at 5555 Bandini Blvd.
