Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Teen Who ‘Divorced’ Her Parents Is Found
- Share via
Kimberly Mays Twigg, the teenager who “divorced” her biological parents to live with her adoptive family but then reversed course, was located after having been reported missing April 9, the Sarasota County, Fla., sheriff’s office said. Twigg, 17, had been staying at a YWCA youth shelter. In a hospital mix-up, Kimberly was given in infancy to Robert Mays, and the wrong child was given to her biological parents, Regina and Ernest Twigg. The child raised by the Twiggs died, and when it was determined that the child was not theirs by birth, the Twiggs fought for custody of Kimberly. But the girl went to court to “divorce” the Twiggs to remain with Mays. Shortly after, she changed her mind and moved in with the Twiggs.
