San Gabriel Valley : 2 Officials Fired in Flap Over Potbellied Pigs
A potbellied pig that has caused a trough-full of trouble in the past has now cost some La Puente city officials their jobs.
The City Council voted 3-1 Tuesday to fire planning commissioners Joe Beaulieu and Paul Dahlitz partly because the two officials have been vocal supporters of allowing residents to own potbellied pigs as pets.
Dahlitz, a commissioner for 21 years, said he may sue because he was not given notice that the council was considering the action.

Councilwoman Sally Ann Holguin-Fallon said the firing is proof that the issue has gone too far.
“They were two of the best,†she said. “This pig thing seems to monopolize all of our time, on every level. I’m sick of it.â€
