Ventura police are looking for a man with a scar on his cheek who is suspected of robbing one liquor store at knifepoint and attempting to rob a second, authorities said Thursday.

The man, who is described as white and in his late 30s, tried to rob House of Spirits Liquor at 1783 S. Victoria Ave. late Wednesday. The man grabbed a store clerk by his shirt and pulled a knife on him, but the clerk grabbed a club from behind the counter and chased the man from the store, police said.

About 15 minutes later, at 10:30 p.m., the same man brandished a knife at a clerk and ordered him to lie on the floor of Surf Liquor at 1050 S. Seaward Ave., police said. The man fled from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said.
