Canned Ham Recall: Swift-Eckrich, an Illinois food processing firm, is pulling about 15,000 pounds of its canned hams off shelves across the country over fears that some are unprocessed and may cause serious illness if eaten, the Agriculture Department said. All five-pound cans of “Swift Premium Fully Cooked Ham, Water Added” with the code EST 543 6066 printed in ink on the side are being recalled voluntarily by the company. Symptoms after eating an unprocessed ham include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, and in some cases, fever, chills and headache. Uncooked hams look reddish and jellylike, compared to fully processed hams, which are pink and firm.
