Garamendi Attack
Re “Garamendi Calls for End to Water Dispute,†March 29:
Deputy Secretary of the Interior John Garamendi was very personally attacked by the spokesperson for an angry Gov. Pete Wilson, a career politician who was forced to withdraw from a disastrous campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.
At no time did Sean Walsh (Wilson’s press secretary) refer to the substance of Garamendi’s proposals, but rather only attempted to trash him. With sound water use a key policy issue in California, and with a Californian, a rancher and a lifetime resident of the state in a key position to help the state, why did the governor turn his lackey loose, denying the state the opportunity to work cooperatively with the Interior Department to address the serious issues raised by Garamendi?
