Hall Sets Mark, Sparks Servite Over Tustin

John Hall broke his school record in helping unranked Servite defeat ninth-ranked Tustin, 68-60, in Golden West League boys’ track and field Thursday at Servite.
Hall’s record of 39.4 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles places him second among the county’s fastest times this season.
In the 1,600, Terry Nelson set a Servite record with a time of 4:28.30. The previous mark was set by Henry Perez (4:28.35) in 1978. Servite is 3-0; Tustin dropped to 2-1.
In Sea View League boys’ track and field:
El Toro 93, Santa Margarita 42--Elliott Parks won the high jump (6-2), long jump (21-4 1/2) and the triple jump (41-1) for top-ranked El Toro (4-0, 3-0). Santa Margarita is ranked third in the county.
Woodbridge 77, Irvine 65--Sixth-ranked Woodbridge upset No. 5 Irvine to remain undefeated in league. In the pole vault, David Allen improved on his best mark this season, jumping 14-6 for the Warriors, placing him third in the county.
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 91.5, Trabuco Hills 44.5--Steve Anstead won four events for Dana Hills (5-0, 3-0). Anstead won the 100 (10.8), 200 (22.7), long jump (21-4 1/2) and the triple jump (42-0).
In the Sunset League:
Esperanza 75, Marina 53--Pat Swanson won the 110 hurdles in 14.4, second-best in the county this season and the 300 hurdles in 39.7, giving him the third-best mark. Swanson also won the 100 in 11.4 for second-ranked Esperanza (3-0).
In Sea View League girls’ track and field:
Woodbridge 95, Irvine 41--Jennifer Thompson cleared 10 feet in the pole vault, placing her third in the county this season for third-ranked Woodbridge (3-0). Jackie Dix won the 100 (12.6) and 200 (25.8) for the Warriors.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 99 1/2, Huntington Beach 34 1/2--Kerry O’Bric won the long jump (17-9), triple jump (37-10), 100 hurdles (15.8) and 300 hurdles (48.6) for host Edison (8-0, 3-0), ranked No. 1 in Orange County.
In Sea View League baseball:
El Toro 16, Newport Harbor 10--Brett Vessells and Joe Smith each had two hits and three RBIs and Jeff Bibler had two hits and two RBIs for ninth-ranked El Toro (9-5-1, 5-1-1), which scored six runs each in the first and fifth innings.
In Sea View League golf:
Irvine 205, Santa Margarita 214--Irvine upset Santa Margarita (6-1, 4-1), which was playing without two of its top players at Cota de Caza. Brandon Patty shot a one-over-par 37 for Irvine (8-4, 4-3).
In Sea View League softball:
Woodbridge 2, Santa Margarita 0--Nicole Thompson hit a two-run home run in the fifth and Christy Robitaille pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts to post her eighth shutout for visiting Woodbridge (12-3, 2-0), ranked fourth in the county.
In South Coast League boys’ swimming:
Trabuco Hills 105, Dana Hills 64--Steven McLeod of Trabuco Hills (4-4, 2-1) won the 200 freestyle (1:46.61) and posted the fastest county time this season in the 500 free (4:44.01).
