In Syracuse’s 60-57 victory over Kansas in the West Regional title game last week, Todd Burgan missed four free throws in the final minute and almost cost the Orangemen a victory.

So when Syracuse took an 11-point lead over Mississippi State late in the game Saturday, no one was surprised when the Bulldogs fouled Burgan with three minutes remaining.

Burgan, a 62% free-throw shooter for the season, calmly made two free throws and basically ended any chance of a Mississippi State comeback.
