3M Camarillo Honored for Environmental Program
The California Regional Water Quality Control Board has recognized 3M Camarillo and Chuck Thomas, a 3M environmental engineering specialist, for their work with the city of Camarillo in planning and implementing the 1995 Household Hazardous Waste Roundup.
The annual roundup held at the 3M site provides Camarillo residents with an environmentally safe way to dispose of their household hazardous waste. In recognizing 3M, board officials noted that the company has had a long history of working toward the protection and enhancement of the Calleguas Creek watershed.
The city of Camarillo recently awarded the 3M plant the ’95 Waste Watch Gold Award for the best recycling program. President Clinton announced in December that the 3M Camarillo plant was one of a handful of sites to qualify for Project XL, an environmental leadership program.
