Pepperdine pitching continued to overwhelm Gonzaga on Saturday, as the Waves swept the Bulldogs, 5-0 and 4-2, in a West Coast Conference doubleheader and completed a three-game sweep.
Left-hander Greg Gregory (4-3) threw a one-hit shutout in the opener, a seven-inning game.
Coming on the heels of Friday’s no-hitter by former El Camino Real High pitcher Randy Wolf, host Pepperdine (16-11, 7-0 in the WCC) held Gonzaga hitless for the first 12 innings of the series before a fourth-inning single by Brendan Hare broke up a no-hit bid by Gregory.
Right-hander Jason LeBlanc (2-2) allowed five hits in 6 2/3 innings to win the second game. In the series, Pepperdine held Gonzaga (5-9, 0-3) scoreless for 23 of 25 innings, including 20 in a row.
