Jason Thomas scored 28 points as Compton Dominguez broke away in the third quarter to beat Walnut Creek Northgate, 65-49, and win the Division II boys’ basketball state high school championship Friday night at the Arco Arena in Sacramento.
Fresno Washington Union 56, Santa Rosa Cardinal Newman 42--Demetrius Porter scored 27 points to help Washington Union (29-1) to its second state title, in the Division IV boys’ championship game.
Moraga Campolindo 77, Cerritos Valley Christian 60--Valley Christian (31-1) fell to Campolindo in the Division IV girls’ state title game for the second year in a row, despite 25 points from Kiyoko Miller, a transfer from Brea Olinda.
