4 Indicted in Workers’ Compensation Fraud Case: A 43-count federal grand jury indictment was unsealed in Los Angeles against four principals of a former psychological testing clinic, who are accused of overcharging and misleading workers’ compensation insurance carriers. According to the indictment, American Psychometric Consultants of Signal Hill submitted padded bills for psychological evaluations totaling $18.7 million. All four defendants--clinical psychologists Barbara Kalb, 60, and Robert Ransom, 58, along with office manager Jerome M. Monsey, 63, and Todd C. Kalb, 34, who handled billing-- are charged with conspiracy and mail fraud. Monsey is also charged with money laundering.
