Three Orange County athletes have decided on their colleges.
Esperanza’s Kelly O’Connor orally committed to attend UCLA next fall, Aztec track Coach Al Britt said. Last spring, O’Connor became the first county girl to leap beyond 40 feet in the triple jump, and won the Sunset League, section Division I and state triple jump championships.
Kensy Zulueta, a setter on the Calvary Chapel volleyball team, committed to Florida State, Seminole Coach Cecile Reynaud said. Zulueta played on the Calvary team that won state titles in 1994 and 1995. She is a two-time section Division IV first-team selection.
Cypress’ Amanda Brown, a fullback on the soccer team, signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Toledo, according to her mother, Linda Brown.
Brown was a member of the Cypress squad that finished second in the Empire League and advanced to the quarterfinals of the playoffs. She was a three-time all-league selection and last season was named to the section Division III second team.
