TUJUNGA — A 6-year-old boy playing with a loaded gun was grazed in the stomach, chest and upper arm when the weapon slipped from his hands and fired one bullet, police said.
The child, whose name was withheld because of his age, was treated for superficial wounds Friday night at Los Angeles Childrens Hospital and held overnight for observation. But he was in little pain by early Saturday, according to hospital spokesman Steve Rutledge, and even played in his room before being released in the afternoon.
“He was a very lucky boy,” Rutledge said.
Police said they had yet to confirm how the boy got the .38-caliber gun.
The accident happened in the 7300 block of Valmont Avenue.
