Harlem Diary: Nine Voices of Resilience (Discovery Channel, Sunday at 10 p.m.) is Jonathan Stack’s illuminating 1995 documentary that celebrates taking responsibility for one’s life even in the face of overwhelming odds. Producer-director Stack, co-director Spencer Style and writer/co-producer Terry Williams introduce us to nine distinctive, thoroughly engaging African Americans, ranging from 12 to 26, who tell us their stories. The result is a well-structured film that flows with grace and spontaneity.
