HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER PLAYOFFS : La Canada Nicks Sierra Vista, 3-2
The La Canada High boys’ soccer team scored twice in the final minute to pull out a 3-2 victory over host Sierra Vista in a Southern Section Division IV playoff quarterfinal.
Nick Paneno tied the score, 2-2, then Nick Andrus scored his 37th goal just before time expired. After scoring the game-winner, Andrus turned toward the Sierra Vista sidelines with his arms open, and received a red card for taunting. He will miss the top-seeded Spartans’ semifinal match Tuesday against Temecula Valley.
La Canada (23-0) outshot Sierra Vista (22-4-2), 16-3.
