Magic Johnson Plans to Call Boxer

The Lakers’ Magic Johnson, who learned he had the HIV virus in 1991, says he will call boxer Tommy Morrison and relate his experience with the disease.
“The most difficult time is right now,” Johnson said. “He [Morrison] doesn’t know what it’s all about. . . . I know what’s on his mind. I know what [late AIDS activist] Elizabeth Glaser did for me. I can do that for him. I can talk to him and ease his mind.
“The whole thing for him is just to educate himself about what HIV is all about by talking to people.”
