Chaminade Wins Tiebreaker, Earns Playoff Berth
Chaminade High almost squandered a 17-point lead but held on to defeat host Notre Dame, 58-57, in a fourth-place Mission League tiebreaker Saturday and earn a spot in the Southern Section boys’ basketball playoffs.
Sophomore forward Scott Long had 17 points and 13 rebounds for Chaminade (13-14, 7-6 in league play), which was outscored, 25-12, in the fourth quarter. Notre Dame (14-14, 6-7) may petition for an at-large playoff berth.
Santa Paula 56, Calabasas 43--Santa Paula (15-9, 6-5) won the third-place tiebreaker in the Frontier League despite 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists by Ryan Coleman of Calabasas (14-11, 5-6), which could be an at-large entry.
