NEW YORK — The pavement outside a midtown Manhattan hotel was smeared with blood after three armed robbers shot a Hong Kong jeweler and fled with about $1 million worth of diamonds, police said.
Lap Koon Chow, 36, was in critical but stable condition Friday with a bullet wound to the chest. He was shot Thursday night outside the Hilton Hotel on Sixth Avenue as he and another Hong Kong businessman were returning from showing the gems to a prospective client, police said.
