M. Spencer Farr; Co-Founder of Filters Manufacturer
M. Spencer Farr, 85, co-founder of Farr Co., which makes filters to control air, gas and liquid contaminants. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Farr earned his degree in mechanical engineering from USC. He was initially involved in all areas of the El Segundo-based company he founded with his father, Morrill, and brother Richard in 1937. Eventually, he concentrated on finance and administration and became chairman. Active in community affairs, Farr worked with the Boy Scouts of America, Rotary International and United Way. He was also a trustee of the Americanism Educational League and a board member of Merchants & Manufacturers Associates and Pepperdine University Associates. On Jan. 25 in Los Angeles of a heart attack.
