Carter Makes Certain Saddleback Rolls On

Saddleback College was in a position for a letdown Friday, but Anthony Carter made sure it didn’t happen.
Carter, a sophomore guard, scored 30 points with 10 rebounds, nine assists and five blocks in Saddleback’s 85-78 victory over host Irvine Valley in an Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball game.
Saddleback was coming off a 102-95 victory over Riverside Wednesday in which Saddleback (20-3, 8-0) took over first place in the conference. Saddleback has won 20 of its last 21 games.
The Gauchos led at halftime, 45-35, but Irvine Valley played well to start the second half. The score was tied, 54-54, with 13 minutes 17 seconds left.
Saddleback then went on a 21-6 run over the next six minutes. Michael Riggins had 10 points in the run and finished with 16 points and five assists.
Josh Porter had 19 for Irvine Valley (12-13, 3-5).
