College Accepting Award Nominations
The Ventura College alumni association is accepting nominations for inductees into its Hall of Achievement, an honor extended to supporters of the college.
Nominees must have demonstrated a commitment to the college and its community.
Last year, longtime college employees Joanne Garcia, Bob Gowder and George McNeely, along with state Sen. Jack O’Connell (D-San Luis Obispo) were the first inducted into the Hall of Achievement. O’Connell is a graduate of Ventura College and a member of the state Legislature’s education committee.
A bronze plaque engraved with their names is on display in the Mary Guthrie Hall of Achievement, a campus center for tutoring.
Applications for nominees should be mailed to Barbara Hall, Alumni & Friends of Ventura College, 4667 Telegraph Road, 93003. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 31.
A dinner honoring the recipients will be held April 12 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Tickets, which cost $30, can be purchased by calling 654-6348.
