Ex-Mater Dei Standout Transferring to UCI

Freshman Shaun Jackson, who left the Wyoming basketball team in December, will transfer to UC Irvine, Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight said Wednesday.
McKnight was Jackson’s coach at Mater Dei.
Jackson left Wyoming after he was suspended Dec. 8 for violating an unspecified team rule.
Jackson, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 6.7 points and 3.2 rebounds in six games for Wyoming. He helped Mater Dei win the state Division I championship in 1995.
