Porter, from Mater Dei High, had never been in the role of scorer before this season. In high school, he was surrounded by several other talented players. Porter, a 6-foot-4 forward, made 11 of 13 shots from the field and finished with a career-high 26 points as the Lasers beat Rancho Santiago, 70-69, Friday. He had 16 as Irvine Valley beat Fullerton, 88-70, Friday. Porter is averaging 14 points this season.
Basketball
Shane Miller
* Cypress, freshman. He had 22 points and 15 rebounds, both personal bests, but the Chargers lost to Golden West, 79-78.
