Soccer/Goalkeeper
Roy, a first-team All-Pacific Coast League selection as a sophomore, started this league season in fine fashion Thursday. Roy had 13 saves as the Wolverines surprised league favorite Laguna Hills, then the third-ranked team in the Orange County Coaches Assn. poll, with a 0-0 tie. “She had one save where the other coach was just shaking his head, like there was no way she could stop that,” Aliso Niguel Coach Sharon Alvarez said. Roy had six saves Tuesday in a 5-0 victory over Fullerton. Roy, who made the Olympic Development Program regional team, has five shutouts and is averaging nearly six saves per game this season for Aliso Niguel (7-4-2). She has given up 14 goals.
