Teen Shot in Drive-by Shooting; 2 Arrested
A 16-year-old Ventura boy was shot Monday afternoon in a drive-by shooting by suspected gang members who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Ventura police said.
Daniel Rodriguez was shot once in the back of the leg and once in the back and was in serious condition Monday night at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura.
Eric Martinez, 18, and a 16-year-old boy, both of Ventura, were arrested without incident after being identified by witnesses. Martinez was booked at Ventura County Jail and the other suspect was booked at Ventura County Juvenile Hall.
Police said Rodriguez and three friends were in front of a house in the 1300 block of Arrowhead Avenue when a vehicle stopped in front of the house and shots were fired from the car.
As many as eight shots were fired and the four teens ran for cover, police said.
Rodriguez was the only one struck by bullets in the 2 p.m. drive-by shooting.
