Norwalk Man Arrested in Brea Slaying
A Norwalk man has been arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting a 52-year-old man in front of the victim’s manufacturing business in Brea, police said Monday.
Ruben Sonnie Martinez, 21, of Norwalk remains at the Orange County Jail, where he was booked in connection with the Jan. 3 shooting death of Uwe Jurgens of Yorba Linda.
Police said Martinez stole a truck in Santa Ana and pulled into a Brea business complex on North Palm Street when he had trouble with the truck. He asked a nearby employee for some help and then tried to rob him, police said.
When Jurgens stepped out of the business to check on them, Martinez shot him, police said. Martinez then fled in the robbery victim’s car.
Los Angeles police had been looking for Martinez before the shooting.
“They already had a warrant on him for at least three robberies, and he was implicated for 20 others,†Brea Police Det. Terry Fincher said.
Los Angeles police arrested Martinez at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at a friend’s house in Norwalk, Fincher said.
