Chris Rose
Rancho Santiago, Sophomore
Basketball/Center
Rose was well traveled before arriving at Rancho Santiago in the fall of 1994. He already had spent a year at Allegany College in Cumberland, Mass., as well as four years in the Marine Corps. He spent last season meeting academic requirements and is playing well this season. He scored 52 points and had 25 rebounds in leading the Dons to the title of the Rancho Santiago tournament last weekend. His best game was in the semifinals, where he had 25 points and 12 rebounds in an 82-56 victory over Rio Hondo.

Ray Jimmerson
* Golden West, Freshman. He scored 23 points as the Rustlers beat Mt. San Jacinto, 84-70, in the third-place game of the Desert tournament.

Jennifer Nakanishi
Irvine Valley, Sophomore
Basketball/Guard
Nakanishi, from Culver City High, spent a season at Loyola Marymount before transferring to Irvine Valley, which is in its first season. Nakanishi is one of the main reasons the Lasers got off to such a strong start, going 14-2 in nonconference games. She scored 71 points in four games, including 24 in the championship game of the Fullerton tournament. She started the week leading Irvine Valley in scoring, averaging 18 points. She is also shooting 44% from three-point range.

Shanna Renken
* Saddleback, Freshman. A forward, she was selected most valuable player of the Grossmont tournament.
